Nose shape concerns can involve the profile, symmetry, width or appearance after an injury. A photograph or online description cannot show which procedure, if any, is appropriate. An individual assessment is needed before discussing a treatment plan.
Be specific about your concern
Explain what bothers you and what you hope would change. Distinguish an appearance concern from breathing difficulty or discomfort. If you have symptoms or a history of injury, discuss medical assessment with your GP.
Ask what cannot be changed
Ask the practitioner to explain the limits of the proposed approach, including whether it addresses appearance, underlying structure or neither. Do not assume a non-surgical procedure can achieve the same changes as surgery. A referral or a recommendation not to proceed may be appropriate.
Avoid treating photographs as promises
Someone elseโs result does not predict your outcome. Ask how your anatomy, previous procedures and health history affect the assessment. Discuss uncertainty, possible unwanted changes and significant risks before deciding.
Allow time for an informed decision
Request information about recovery, aftercare, alternatives and total costs. If the explanation does not answer your concerns, ask further questions or seek another opinion. You do not have to agree to a procedure at the consultation.
